****Specific parenting strategies include: praising and rewarding desirable behavior, staying actively involved with your children in fun activities, making time to listen and talk with your children, setting expectations for appropriate behavior and academic performance, sharing parental values, communicating with your children about health-related risks and behaviors, consistently enforcing family rules with consequences, monitoring your children's daily activities, modeling nonviolent responses to conflict, modeling healthy behaviors, emphazing the importance of your children getting enough sleep, providing a supportive learning environment in the home, and making a few clear, understandable rules designed to increase level of self-management.
